Founded in 1857, Klein Tools is the #1 preferred hand tool in the electrical industry and a leading brand in the maintenance, construction and industrial trades.
In 2016, Creative Services Manager Jeffery Grampovnik spearheaded a new creative operations strategy that would eliminate his need for cumbersome tracking spreadsheets, improve collaboration, and ensure that all product launches and deliverables were managed effectively.
As a small part of the 500-person company, the creative services team at Klein Tools is tasked to continually strengthen their brand in a competitive marketplace, producing both digital and print content.
Prior to using Slope, the team tracked all their deliverables in a burdensome spreadsheet. However, launch dates were constantly changing, it was difficult to hold different team members accountable for work, and communication between managers and people executing tasks was inefficient.
Klein Tools was missing a defined process for tracking projects, making it easy for projects to become muddled or dropped. Plus, there wasn’t a formalized work request process–a painful gap for a team tasked to support the large organization.
“In the past, I was managing a cumbersome Excel worksheet for projects and status. A problem needed to be solved.”
Jeffery knew that with the mounting work his team was in charge of, he needed a tool that would allow him to abandon his increasingly-bloated spreadsheets. As manager, he sought an easy way to keep track of project statuses, deadlines, and his team’s workload.
When Klein Tools found Slope, Jeffery knew his problems were solved. Slope made it easy for him to:
Now that all progress is tracked in Slope, Jeffery’s team can give feedback in real-time, require fewer meetings, and produce better-quality content, faster. He no longer needs to regularly ask for status updates from his team and nothing is lost in translation when a manager requests work from a designer.
Klein Tools’ creative team uses Slope as their single source for all project management and creative review. They use Slope to manage every product launch and ensure that new products have the right creative assets behind them to guarantee success.
In particular, Klein Tools’ video team has excelled with Slope, as time-stamped comments on their video work cuts down on the review process immensely.
With Slope, Klein Tools has saved an immense amount of time and money and is looking forward to incorporating Slope into other parts of their business.
